Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW Dortmund

The new building of the ID-Building is situated south-east to the existing University. It is meant to be an exchange building during the successive renovation of the University. To fulfil the demands of environmental friendly and low priced energy supply the builder, in this case the “Bau- und Liegenbetrieb NRW Dortmund”, decided to cover the heating and cooling needs by geothermal energy.

Within the pre-exploration the general boundary conditions for the feasibility of geothermal energy supply (topography, regulatory approval) were proved and the geological, hydrogeological and thermo-dynamic data collected.

With a detailed-exploration followed an in-situ-exploration of the building-site. In doing so a pilot-drilling with a thermal response test for the determination of the geothermal variables (heat conductance, drill hole resistance) was conducted.
