GeoTechnikum, an in-situ field laboratory
- Model of the GeoTechnikum
The GeoTechnikum is developed as a large scale testing facility. Under close to production and in-situ conditions application-oriented R&D projects will be conducted. A completion of the testing complex is expected in 2008. The GeoTechnikum will become the core facility of the GeothermieZentrum Bochum.
As vital components a Coiled-Tubing drilling system and pressurised water technology will be provided. Furthermore monitoring facilities will enable the GeothermalCenter to simulate the geological ambiance of drilling activities.
The GeoThechnikum will concentrate in its endeavour on the procedural development, measurement and testing of the
- exploration of geothermal resources,
- development of geothermal reservoirs,
- improvement of the operation of cycles using thermal fluids,
- optimisation of drilling technology and geophysical measurement technique,
- simulation of subsurface structures,
- establishment of a testing field,
- infrastructural support of high-tech-founders in the fields of geothermal and heat mining applications.
