International Geothermal Association - IGA

The International Geothermal Association (IGA), founded in 1988, is a scientific, educational and cultural organization established to operate worldwide. It has nearly 5,000 members in over 65 countries. The IGA is a non-political, non-profit, non-governmental organization with consultative status to the UN and special observer status to the Green Climate Fund.

The objectives of the IGA are to encourage research, the development and utilization of geothermal resources worldwide through the publication of scientific and technical information among the geothermal specialists, the business community, governmental representatives, UN organisations, civil society and the general public.

International Geothermal Office - IGO

The International Geothermal Office (IGO) which is located at the Geothermal Centre at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences has the aim to encourage the scientific and the technological innovative strength as well as the promotion of the competitiveness of German companies, especially those that are based in the area of North Rhine –Westphalia. Further the IGO promotes scientific institutions working in the sector of shallow and deep geothermal energy.

Wirtschaftsvereinigung Geothermie e.V.

The Wirtschaftsvereinigung Geothermie e.V. is closely linked to the International Geothermal Centre through staff, research structures and projects. This way the interests of the companies are interlinked with the applied research. 

Netzwerk Geothermie der EnergieAgentur.NRW

The Netzwerk Geothermie was initiated by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2009. This network pools the activities around geothermal energy in North Rhine-Westphalia and provides a platform of exchange between experts in geothermal energy.

Bochum Graduate School AGES

The "Bochum Graduate Applied Research on Enhanced Geothermal Energy Systems (AGES)" is a joint establishment of the Ruhr-University Bochum and the Bochum University of Applied Sciences, where the Universities combine their scientific expertise. Excellent graduates from universities from all over the world have the possibility to take part in this graduate program.
